Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about working with a broker, financing, credit, leasing, and the process — from our Van Nuys team.

About Working with DriveDeal as a Broker

What exactly does an auto broker do?

An auto broker shops the market on your behalf — locating the vehicle, negotiating price and terms, and arranging financing or leasing through a network of dealers and lenders. Instead of visiting multiple lots and haggling yourself, the broker does the legwork and presents the best ready-to-sign deal. You stay in control of the final decision while saving hours of time and usually money too.

How is using a broker different from going to a dealership myself?

A dealership only sells its own inventory at prices it sets, while a broker shops across many dealers and lenders to find the best combination of price, rate, and terms. Brokers have no lot to push, so there is no pressure to clear aging stock or upsell add-ons. You get a single point of contact and a transparent comparison instead of a sales pitch.

Is DriveDeal.pro a licensed auto broker in California?

Yes — DriveDeal is a licensed California auto broker operating out of Van Nuys. We follow state dealer and broker regulations and handle all paperwork, contracts, and DMV submissions properly. Licensing means your transaction is protected and fully compliant with California law.

How much does it cost to use DriveDeal as a broker? Do you charge a fee?

DriveDeal does not charge you a separate broker fee for most transactions — we are compensated through the dealer or lender, just like a dealership finance office is. You see the full out-the-door price before signing, with no hidden broker charges. For special-order or hard-to-find vehicles we discuss any fee upfront so there are no surprises.

Can I still test drive a car if I go through a broker?

Yes. We arrange test drives at the dealer or at our Van Nuys location before you commit to anything. You can drive the exact car you are considering and have it inspected. A broker never asks you to buy blind.

Will I get a worse deal or selection using a broker instead of a dealership?

No — typically the opposite. Because a broker shops multiple dealers, you access a wider selection than any single lot and the competitive bidding drives the price down. Brokers can often locate trims, colors, or configurations a local dealer does not have in stock. You get more choice at a better price, not less.

Do you deliver the car to my home or office in the LA area?

No, we do not offer home or office delivery. You pick up your vehicle at our Van Nuys location at 14531 Hamlin St, where we finalize paperwork and hand over the keys. This keeps the process transparent and lets you inspect the car in person before driving off.

Do you speak Russian, Ukrainian, or Armenian? Can I work with someone in my language?

Yes. Our Van Nuys team speaks English, Russian, Ukrainian, and Armenian, so you can review every detail of your lease or financing in the language you are most comfortable with. Just let us know your preference when you call 747-777-9309.

Financing and Credit Questions

What credit score do I need to finance or lease a car through DriveDeal?

For financing we can work with scores from 550 and up, and for leasing we typically look for 650 or higher. Higher scores unlock lower rates and $0-down options, but we have lenders for nearly every tier. We review your profile and tell you exactly which programs you qualify for.

Can you help me get financing if I have bad credit or no credit history?

Of course. We work with subprime and first-time-buyer lenders that approve bad or thin credit, usually with a larger down payment or a co-signer. We submit to multiple lenders at once to minimize hard pulls on your report. Many of our clients get approved after being turned down elsewhere.

Can I get approved with an ITIN instead of a Social Security number?

Yes. We can finance with an ITIN, and SSN applicants now have even more options. With an ITIN expect around 20% down on a car priced under $40,000. We match you to lenders that accept ITIN and walk you through every document needed.

How much of a down payment will I need?

Down payment depends on your credit, the car price, and whether you lease or finance — typically 10–20% for financing and $0–$3,000 for leasing with good credit. Lower credit scores usually require more down to offset lender risk. We give you an exact number once we see your profile and chosen vehicle.

What's the difference between an interest rate and a money factor?

An interest rate (APR) applies to a purchase loan and is expressed as a percentage. A money factor is the leasing equivalent — a small decimal that, multiplied by 2,400, gives you the equivalent APR. Dealers sometimes mark up the money factor for extra profit, so we always show you the buy rate.

Can I use my trade-in as part of my down payment?

Yes, we can do trade-ins and apply your vehicle’s value directly toward your down payment or cap-cost reduction. We appraise your trade in about 20 minutes and the equity rolls into the new deal. Negative equity can sometimes be rolled into financing too, depending on the lender.

Am I able to get financing if I'm self-employed or a 1099 contractor?

Yes. Self-employed and 1099 buyers get approved with the right documentation — usually two years of tax returns, bank statements, and proof of income. Some lenders offer bank-statement-only programs that do not require traditional W-2s. We know which lenders welcome self-employed applicants in LA.

Leasing-Specific Questions

What happens if I go over my mileage limit?

You are charged a per-mile fee for every mile over your allowance — typically $0.15–$0.30 per mile, set in your lease contract. A 5,000-mile overage can cost $750–$1,500 at turn-in. You can often buy extra miles upfront at a lower rate, or purchase the car at lease-end to avoid the penalty entirely.

What happens if I need to end my lease early?

Ending a lease early usually means paying the remaining payments plus an early-termination fee, which can be costly. Alternatives include a lease transfer (swap) through services that move the lease to another qualified driver, or trading the car in if it is worth more than the payoff. We help you compare the options and pick the least expensive exit.

What are my options when my lease ends?

At lease-end you can return the car, buy it at the preset residual price, or lease or buy a new vehicle. If the car is worth more than the residual, buying it can be a smart move; if it is worth less, returning it lets the lender take the loss. We review your residual versus market value so you choose the most valuable option.

Is a security deposit required, and do I get it back?

Sometimes — many leases now waive the security deposit if your credit history is solid, folding any risk cost into the money factor instead. When a deposit is required it is refundable at lease-end minus any charges for excess wear, mileage, or damage. We show you whether a deposit applies to your specific deal.

Process

How long does the whole process take from start to finish?

Most deals take anywhere from one hour to two days from application to driving off the lot. Pre-approved clients with a chosen car can finalize in about an hour; special-order vehicles or complex credit files can take up to two days. We move as fast as your documents and lender response allow.
